RATES & CONDITIONS
Each recording project is unique.
A recording studio needs to know the size, intention and style of your band.
You may be a garage band and want to record quickly with no fuss, or you may want to layer your recording.

There are many other things Incubator needs to know in order to give you a fair and accurate price for your recording and the million dollar answer to the question, "How long will it take to record a song"?

These are some of the reasons that Incubator prefers you to phone with your questions. We also would like to encourage you to visit the studio. A visit to the Incubator will give you a chance to see the facilities in person, meet the engineer and have a listen to some of the studios previous works.

Rates are different for the weekend (Saturday-Sunday) than they are for during the week (Monday-Friday). Incubator wants to encourage bookings during the week so Incubator offers a reduced rate Monday-Friday. A separate rate for small projects, that is for example "I want to copy this CD" etc…. WEEKDAY RATE
  • Five hours $220
  • Full day (nine hours) $380
The minimum booking for a recording is a five-hour period at $220. i.e. two hours still has the fee of $220. Hours that go over the half-day five-hour booking will be charged at $44 per hour. A full nine-hour day booked for a weekday is $380
WEEKEND RATE
  • Five hours $250
  • Full day (nine hours) $440
The minimum booking for a recording is a five-hour period at $250. Hours that go over the half-day five-hour booking will be charged at $50 per hour. A full nine-hour day booked for a weekday is $440. If you book the whole weekend (Saturday and Sunday) the rate will be $800.
BOOKINGS Your recording session is considered booked when Incubator receives a $100 deposit. The remainder of the recording cost is due upon completion of the recording day. The deposit confirms your acceptance of the rates and conditions
DISCOUNTED RATE A discounted rate can be negotiated, at the time of the initial booking, for Incubating sessions that are three days or more . Recording projects that take longer than expected do not fall into this category. For example if a client books one day however over the course of the day, a second day is booked, then after this day it is realized the recording project will require another day making up a third day, this is not eligible for a three day booking discount.

To receive a three-day booking discount the three days need to be booked before recording commences. Conversely if a three-day booking is booked and it takes only two days this makes the three-day booking discount invalid and normal rates apply.
ADAT If an ADAT session is required ADAT tapes comprise of 8 tracks and are forty minutes duration. I have two ADAT machines for a total of 16 tracks. You will need to purchase them yourself before the Incubator recording session starts or ask Incubator to do so; this will incur a service fee of $10. To format an ADAT requires approx. forty-five minutes; you will need to drop them off before the session starts preferably the night before.
PUNCTUALITY It is important to be punctual. If your session booking starts at 10:00am so does the clock whether you are on time or not. If you realize that you might be late a courtesy call would be very much appreciated and expected.
CANCELLATIONS If you must cancel a recording session, 72 hours minimum notice will be needed. Cancellation the day before or on the day will result in a $100 cancellation fee. Incubator might have missed a session on the same day because your booking was confirmed.
PROPERTY All mixes, CD-R, DAT and master tapes, hard drives, etc. shall remain the property of Incubator recording until all invoices are paid in full by the client.
FIRE-WIRE Bringing your own Fire wire drive is recommended. This will speed up backup time. Sessions can be backed up to CD-R or DVD-R but it takes a long time - a typical session will take on average an hour to two hours to back up (the time will vary depending on individual projects). Incubator prefers it if you buy a fire wire drive; it will save time and money and will empower you the artist to have a copy of your "master tapes". That is the session setup data and list of plug-ins used, fade files, audio files etc...
LIABILITY We are not legally responsible for items brought into the premises. It is recommended that clients obtain insurance to protect against possible expense or loss of article(s) of value left on the premises. This includes master tapes and data storage units (sessions on hard disc or other recording medium) left at Incubator Recording.
A FINAL WORD ON RATES
Not all studios are created equal. The Incubator studio has been built to the latest professional recording standards. The talent of the engineers, the acoustics of the rooms, the gear, and the experience of the engineer make comparing two studios very difficult.
